Mini Third Model

A few years ago, I received LEGO®'s Mini CLAAS XERION set number 42102 from a work event. It spent some time in the box, some time built as the A model, and then several months disassmebled in a tray as I tried to come up with a Third Model design. I have finally succeeded and present the Mini Street Cleaner!
The Mini Street Cleaner design process was interesting because of how few pieces there were to work with. The original set has only 130 pieces, of which 122 have made it into the Mini Street Cleaner. There were two types of pieces I struggled with throughout the design: axles and pins.
While designing, I was constantly optimising for the axles I had available. There were numerous times where the design needed to change in order to accomodate a different sized axle in a different location to progress further.
Pins were another challenge. The original set does not seem to have enough technic pins for my liking, so I ended up using axle and pin pieces in place of friction pins.
For more information about the original model, and bit more of the inspiration behind the Mini Street Cleaner, and to see me disassemble the Mini CLAAS XERION and reassemble the pieces into the the Mini Street Cleaner, please check out my YouTube video below:

Enjoy!
